YM: How did you get the role of Star Track " The Next Generation" and how was it to work the famous Levar Burton? He is a great actor and I know that it must have been an incredible experience.

Mikki: I started out being a background actress on Star Trek “The Next Generation” and one day the assistant director came up to me and said we are discussing adding you into this upcoming scene and giving you some dialogue… do you think you can do it? I said… are you kidding… OF COURSE I CAN… Lol… and it was with LeVar Burton “Geordi”, and Brent Spiner “Data”… and it was FANTASTIC!! LeVar was a complete joy to work with; he is very professional and has agreat sense of humor!!

Ym: Help us to understand how you would have to prepare to

act in a role in a scare Television series?

Mikki: Well I played Deputy Laverne Shell on the TV series

Scream. Because I have played many Law enforcement type of

characters, I was able to easily get into the mindset of an officer.

I have to admit the fun and sometimes stressful moments were

not knowing if YOUR character was going to be killed in the

next episode or not!! LOL

YM; Ms. Val there are upcoming act and actress who is hoping

to become successful like you? What word of advice that we

can you provide to them?

What are the things that an upcoming actress should have

in order to be successful?

Mikki: I like to call this one my Three P Recipe….. Every

actress should arm herself with PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, &

PRAYER!

YM : We like to encourage people to focus on the positivity in life. Give us a scenario example in your life and how you took that negative situation and turned it into a positive moment in your life as an actress?

Mikki: I had lost my day job and was having difficulty getting employment, I wasn’t booking any acting jobs, and it was like my work life had come to a complete stop. Then one day, one of my best friends called me and asked if I wanted to go to New Orleans for MARDI Gras, so I said well I’m not working and don’t have anything else to do, so let’s roll! It ended up being the biggest blessing of my life because I got to audition for a commercial that my best friend’s agent was able to get me in, and that lead to me auditioning for a lead in a Lifetime movie, that I booked and that lead to me auditioning for several other films, that I also booked, which lead to me packing up and leaving Los Angeles to move to New Orleans!! My Life came back to LIFE!! LOL

What projects are you working on now?

Mikki: I just finished filming an episode of a TV show called “The First”, where I play “Stacy Graham” the Director of a Rehab Center. I play opposite Sean Pean and it airs on The HULU Network.
