In celebration of Arbor Day which was 1 September 2018, Leitch Landscapes donated
and planted a lovely Bersama lucens (glossy white ash) on San Lameer. It is a small
to medium sized tree and not a common garden specimen. It has a wonderful fruit for
vervet monkeys and all types of bird. Hopefully it survives the nibbling of our buck.
On Saturday 15 September, Leitch Landscapes joined the international movement to
clean our local beaches of rubbish. We targeted the area of beach from the marina
beach tidal pool in the north to our lagoon in the south. In 2 hrs over 10 bags of
refuse was removed from the sand dunes and to the high tide mark. The rubbish was
then sorted into what we could recycle and what had to go to the landfill.
Ter viering van Boomplantdag wat 1 September 2018 was, het Leitch Landscapes 'n
pragtige “Bersama-lucens” op San Lameer geplant. Dit is 'n klein tot mediumgrootte
boom en nie 'n algemene tuinmonster nie. Dit het 'n wonderlike vrug vir die apies en
alle soorte voëls. Hopelik oorleef dit die gepeusel van ons bokke.
Op Saterdag 15 September het Leitch Landscapes by die internasionale beweging
aangesluit om ons plaaslike strande skoon te maak. Ons het die Marina-strandgebied
geteiken van die gety swembad in die noorde tot by ons strandmeer in die suide. In 2
ure is meer as 10 sakke vullis van die sandduine en die hoogwatermerk verwyder. Die
rommel is toe uitgesorteer met wat ons kon herwin en wat na die afvalgebied moes
gaan.
