The weather is definitely changing for the better as we enter August and
spring is on the horizon. What better way of preparing for the coming
months of joy and sunshine, than reading about the positive and latest
industry trends as well as economic factors.
The hospitality industry of today is very competitive, everybody is
constantly looking for a new high-tech approach and online booking
systems. Service delivery has and will continue to evolve, largely resulting
from new technologies as well as social and digital media, as mobile tools
and digital infrastructure increasingly become central to the business.
Indeed, there are 4.9 billion unique mobile phone users worldwide and an
estimated 2.7 billion people on social media.
We are constantly researching for new trends to stay on top of the
industry. What makes us rise above our competitors is our personal
approach, we want to make our consumers feel special and have a
connection to San Lameer. 60% of our clients have visited us before and
are return customers. It is more difficult and expensive to gain new loyal
customers compared to keeping the existing ones. We have a few
initiatives up our sleeve to make sure our clients have a more memorable
stay in the future.
Factors, combined with the growth of disposable income, the rise of the
middle class in many emerging markets and changing attitudes of people
towards travel, have enabled the industry to flourish. While travel is still
not accessible to everyone, more people than ever before are travelling
today- with 1.24 billion international arrivals in 2016, compared to 25
million in the 1950's. We can testify to this, as our growth rate steadily
increased the past few years. It is speculated in a few articles that it is
projected that the occupancy rates in all hospitality sectors will grow in the
next few years.
Africa is steadily developing into one of the world's great regions for travel.
With its exceptional, unfiltered fusion of breath-taking, life-inspired
offerings – history & heritage, culture and tradition, wildlife, natural
beauty, and most importantly, the innate spirit of the continent's people –
Africa never fails to create an imprint on the minds and hearts of travellers
from across the globe.
Taking all these factors into consideration, San Lameer will become the “go
to” destination in the future. We just have to invest time, initiative and
vision into our efforts and utilise our potential.
My favourite words are possibilities, opportunities and curiosity. I think if
you are curious, you create opportunities, and then if you open the doors,
you create possibilities.
