Z - In Search of the Sustainable Soul

On one of our last days, we spent time at the Clinic. This is a project started by Dr. Linnea in 1996 in order to provide healthcare to those people in the villages surrounding the area after she visited on a trip and saw the need for it. Currently, the Clinic operates through donations of medicine and other medical supplies. Dr. Linnea splits her time at The Clinic in the Amazon and her work back in the United States. During her absence, nurses and Dr. Roldan Jr. keep the Clinic running.

During our time near the Yanamono village, we visited the community library. We met Fernando, the gentlemen who runs and works at the library. This space was created as a learning resource that welcomes all kids of the village on top of their typical school day. The education consists of reading and writing skills and learning English. On our days here, we met the kids and did several activities with them such as face painting and bracelet making. In addition to these activities, we taught the English words for parts of the body and animals in the area. The two days spent here were full of excitement and fun as we learned about one another's culture.
