(Photos copyright The New Studio) In February, SUA students packed and delivered food,
household items, and personal care items to 180 households
and agencies around the Cincinnati area. The DRIVE (Donate,
Respond, Invest, Value, and Educate) encouraged students to
think differently about the Annual Food Drive and be part of the
solution to the poverty and hunger crisis in our area. Three Saint Ursula families hosted students from
Ètablissement Marie Pila, a school in Carpentras, France, for
3 weeks in January. Clemènce Maze lla, Coralie Courbet, and
Camille Pellet visited SUA as part of a special program which
concentrates on the English Language. While in Cincinnati,
the students attended classes at SUA, participated in Spiritual
Journey Week, and took in local attractions, including a visit to
Skyline Chili!

CAIN Project
Students in Mr. Nicaise’s art class recently created a
community art project titled Feeding Our Souls which has
been donated to CAIN (Churches Active in Northside). This
project encouraged students to develop symbols which
represent their individuality and then paint those symbols
repeatedly on a large canvas. This artwork is now hanging in
CAIN’s Rainbow Food Pantry Reception Area.
Parent Speaker Series
In January, Saint Ursula hosted
psychologist, best-selling author,
and New York Times columnist
Lisa Damour, Ph.D. Dr. Damour
was at SUA as part of the
Counseling Department’s
Parent Education Series, which
supports the goal of educating
the whole person and to working
with parents as partners in their
daughters’ education. Dr. Damour
presented Under Pressure:
Parenting in the Age of Anxiety. She shared the latest
research developments to provide sound, practical guidance to
students, faculty, staff, and parents.
SUA at the United Nations
Six SUA Students and two
teachers joined delegates, UN
members, UN entities and
accredited non-governmental
organizations (NGO’s) from all
over the world at the United
Nations in New York City from
March 10-15. They traveled
to participate in the Working
Group on Girls, which was part
of the 62nd United Nations
Commission on the Status
of Women (CSW62). The
priority theme of this year’s
commission focused on the
challenges and opportunities
in achieving gender equality
and the empowerment of
rural women and girls.
