Running On Sober Issue 3 | Page 4

SAGE, SASSY & SOBER ISSUE 3 EDITORS NOTE Editor's Note: The Significance of 1000 by Jackie Elliott Photos by Jessica Breeze Photography This February marks a significant milestone in my sober journey - 1000 days without an alcoholic drink. It's significant, because like so many others, when I started out, I couldn't even imagine 100 days, let alone 1000. My perspective on booze has changed many times since I first quit, and I've learned a lot. But one thing has remained constant - there has not been one minute in any day, that I have regretted NOT drinking. I've started another "1000" challenge this year - walking 1000 miles in 2018. Walking has been my go-to exercise for the last 1000 days, and besides all the other benefits of exercise, walking has been my best sober strategy. I look forward to sharing my next 1000 sober days with you, and reporting back on my 1000 mile challenge.
