PROGRAMS & LEAGUES Thinking About Coaching Basketball Programs Beginning Basketball Leagues (Preregistration is required) DD Division: League emphasizes skill development, participation and fun! Hoops are lowered to 8 feet and junior basketballs are used. The first 30 minutes consist of practicing fundamentals followed by 30 minutes of game play. D Division: League emphasizes skill development, participation and fun! Hoops are lowered to 8 feet and junior basketballs are used. The first 45 minutes consist of practicing fundamentals followed by 45 minutes of game play. C2 Division: Utilizes referees but no score is kept. Hoops are set at nine feet. This division stresses participation and fun. Saturday C2 game ranges from 12:00-2:00 pm. Teams may practice up to three hours a week. Practice times are arranged by coaches. This league provides an excellent transition from SVUSD Beginning Basketball Leagues to SVUSD Boys and Girls Youth Basketball Leagues. Games begin the week following orientation. Uniforms and schedules are distributed on Orientation Day. Saturday (D&DD) games are played between 8:00 am-12:00 pm. (D&DD) night games are played between 5:00-8:00 pm. Times are determined by gym availability and number of teams in each division. Same team/coach's requests must be made no later than the Wednesday prior to the scheduled orientation.
