YOUR CHILD IS OUR MISSION
Children’s interests, talents and skills come in wonderful shapes
and sizes! Our mission at Sacred Heart is to provide a nurturing
and academically exciting environment in which young minds can
expand and hearts can soar with confidence. We are committed to
helping each student reach his or her greatest potential—becoming
a well-rounded learner ready to take on life’s next opportunity.
THE HEART OF WHAT WE DO
Our K-8 education is rooted in a tradition of faith and dynamic
learning within a community that celebrates the unique gifts of
every child. Having educated Chicago’s young people for more
than a century, we take pride in our Sacred Heart graduates who
continue to make valuable contributions locally, nationally and
globally, and enjoy personal fulfillment in life.
ENDURING VALUES GUIDE US
Sacred Heart Academy for Girls was founded in Chicago in 1876.
Hardey Preparatory for Boys was added in 1935. Today, we refer to
ourselves as Sacred Heart Schools.
We continue to be guided by the insights of St. Madeleine Sophie
Barat who, in 1800, founded the Society of the Sacred Heart.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart subsequently established schools
around the world. They shared St. Madeleine Sophie’s vision of
revealing God’s love for the world by providing youth with a loving
and exceptional academic foundation that would inspire them to
transform society for the better wherever they lived. Today, we
belong to a global network that includes 200 Sacred Heart schools
in 30 countries.
Sacred Heart schools around the world live by timeless principles,
the Goals and Criteria, which inform our education and inspire
students, faculty, parents and school leaders to serve with dedication
and lead by example.
Sacred Heart believes
that children thrive when
they are nurtured and
educated in a supportive
Faith
community that models
faith and lifelong learning.
