A COMMUNITY LIKE NO OTHER What makes a community special? The answers may be many, but at Sacred Heart, we are one family—a welcoming, inclusive and diverse community of students, parents, faculty, staff and adminis- trators. We pray, play and learn together, and are the better for it. WHAT WE VALUE First and foremost, we want all our students to know they are loved, and that their knowledge and talents matter. We are committed to building a community that respects peacemaking and embraces diversity of all kinds. Our heritage as a school of the Sacred Heart informs everything that we engage in—academics, spiritual forma- tion, traditions, athletics, service and special events. A WORD ABOUT OUR TRADITIONS As a member of our Sacred Heart family, you, too, will come to know and love our traditions—Congé, Red and White Teams, the Hot Dog Lunch, Mater Admirabilis, espacio. They may be a mystery now, but that won’t last for long. Some traditions exist purely for fun, some are rooted in spirituality, some bring us together in service, others foster friendly competition. All are unique to Sacred Heart schools and connect Sacred Heart students and their families— around the world—from generation to generation. PARENT PARTICIPATION Parent involvement is a joy for us and enhances campus life immeasurably. Sacred Heart families are lively and welcoming, with Sacred Heart offers a welcoming environment moms and dads lending their presence, skill and vitality to all kinds of important efforts—as classroom assistants, service volun- teers, chaperones and special event planners. Importantly, we appreciate that volunteer efforts need to fit into parents’ already busy lives! We are grateful for whatever ways that parents are able in which each person to participate. is valued, cared for and Comm respected, and talents are celebrated. 12
