RE’S NO PLACE THE hen you and your friends sign a lease, you’ve taken a major step as an independent adult. With those privileges also come responsibilities. The Student Association encourages you to be a good neighbour in whatever area of Kingston that you choose to live. Your actions will help ensure that SLC students maintain a good reputation in our community. Visit the SA website for links to community living resources: www.savoiceslc.com/livinginkingston Visit the City of Kingston website: www.cityofkingston.ca/residents/students Blue Box All items should be clean and placed loosely in the Blue Box. • Glass food and beverage bottles and jars – but NOT broken glass, drinking glasses or light bulbs. • Styrofoam – no popcorn. Styrofoam pieces must be no larger than 3’x 2’x 8’’. • Aluminum and steel cans – including paper cans with metal ends. Put can tops into can and pinch shut. • Plastic food and beverage containers, and “blister” packaging (like the kind they use to package tools or children’s toys). • Alcohol containers can be returned to The Beer Store for deposit refund. W K E H O ME LI Garbage • Shouting, yelling, and other disturbances between the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am can results in fines up to $5,000. • Drinking alcohol in public is punishable without a warning by a $125 fine. Having liquor in an open container, not in a licensed area or private residence, is also subject to fines. There is a six-bundle limit per collection. Place bundles beside the Grey Box. Do NOT put wax-coated or soiled pizza boxes out with your cardboard – these go in the Green Bin. Parties please remember • Respect the people living around you. • Let your neighbours know what is going on in advance and provide them ways to contact you directly if there are problems. • Any noise that can be heard outside of your home and disturbs your neighbours is forbidden at any time of day or night. The City collects one untagged bag/container of garbage per household each week (with a maximum weight of 20 kilograms, or 44 pounds and with a maximum volume of 135 litres). The City will also collect all tagged garbage. Bag tags are $2 each and available at SA Front Desk.
