Adding the finishes
Creating a steel portal frame was both
challenging and interesting. “The first
challenge was to get the detailing of the
exposed steelwork neatly finished to be an
exposed design feature,” Hulme explains.
She adds that it took detailing to provide
adequate sound and thermal insulation
along the insides of the flashings. As for
coordinating the exposed services, they
had to think long and hard to incorporate
them well, so it looks like they have
been ‘designed’.
