ADVERTORIAL - COVER STORY Federale Stene - a sustainable legacy Federale Stene has been part of the clay brick industry since 1958 and has proved that it can comfortably be associated with industry leaders. By Federale Stene | Photos by Federale Stene F ederale Stene product ranges include plaster, semi-face, face and super bricks such as the maxi, quantum and jem, which are all products produced on-site and from natural, raw materials. The clay bricks are all SABS quality approved and manufactured in accordance with ISO standards. Federale Stene can confidently say that their hollow clay bricks are building a sustainable future, one brick at a time. Over its 60-year lifespan Federale Stene’s products have been distributed throughout South Africa and featured in countless projects that have been used by homeowners, small contractors, low-cost rural developments, building material merchants, hospitals, schools, developers and architects. Possibly one of the largest projects to feature Federale Stene’s clay bricks is the University of Mpumalanga. This project was started in 2014 and is still ongoing. Completed buildings have already started serving as spaces for classrooms, laboratories, food courts, student living quarters, administrative offices as well as alumni offices. The Plum Satin (FBS) face brick was used for the entire project to date. The darker purplish colour provides a beautiful aesthetic look that harmonises with the surrounding area well.
