SUPPORT LINDFIELD WANT TO CREATE A SPACE SIMILAR TO THE LANE COVE MARKET SQUARE skills/experience, and leadership have all conspired against our Village coming to fruition. Excuses and promises were made and their deadlines passed through 2015, 16 and 17. Woolworths Proposal In May this year Woolworths submitted an Unsolicited Proposal to Council to develop the entire Village including all the community facilities at minimal cost to Council. The design proposed includes all the features desired by the community, parkland, modern library, community centre, child care centre, supermarkets, cafes/retail amenity, 750 parking spaces, new Scout hall and pedestrian bridge over the highway to the station, linking east and west. We could see no valid reason why the Council could not work with Woolworths to conclude arrangements and get on with it. Three other Sydney Councils have done just that. Council Rejects Community’s Wishes Council has rejected Woolworths proposal and instead are heading in a new direction that involves abolishing the planning constraints and embarking on a lengthy complex tender process with no time line for delivery. To attract developers, nearly doubling of the floor space density of the site is on the table. On one set of calculations it will result in an apartment building of 17 storeys up from the 7 storey limit previously agreed with the community in 2015. Despite years of setbacks Support Lindfield remains committed and focused on making the original community’s vision happen, but we need your help. We need more momentum and the voice of all the residents of Lindfield, Roseville and Killara behind us to get this project over the line by Christmas……2018. How Can You Help? You can help immediately by signing up via www.supportlindfield.net home page or email us at [email protected] and ask us to sign you up. We will keep you updated with regular posts and call on the Community’s Voice and Action at times to overcome the bureaucracy that prevents creating the new heart to OUR village.
