The life of an entrepreneur can be easily compared to that of an athlete. How one may propose? This select individual is also one who must practice their craft; never hasten to sharpen their skills; and have an internal fortitude like none other.

In comparison to the athlete, who may encounter a multiplicity of vicissitudes that could potentially alter their career, is the sole entrepreneur as they trudge along their given path of choice as well. Unlike physical injuries on the field, the entrepreneur can encounter financial woes that can drastically impact their livelihood. In this instance, men and women alike can be gauged equally when measuring the two side by side. It’s not about a glass ceiling which impedes the upward mobility. But rather the transparency that accounts for their unique inner commitment to their given trade.

Also, without the proper preparation, either individual will encounter a superfluous change regardless of their individual heart’s desire. Some of those changes may be as obvious as clients not accepting their service, or rejecting an agreement if one is an entrepreneur. Likewise a realistic change for an athlete may be to get drafted after recently signing a deal for a lower pay rate or being sidelined after once being 1st or 2nd string due to their perceived talent level.

Studying is essential for both.

Researching is essential for both.

Exercising both the mind and body is essential for both.

Seeking the consult of a leader to cultivate your given craft is essential for both.

Lest we not recognize although these two professionals are different at first glance due to their office of choice; the track field or the boardroom, they can ultimately help one another excel. In any given endeavor, we must always look beyond the surface of a situation or profession and partake of the same ‘cup of tea’. That cup being, the pleasures of goal seeking and pushing forward via internal strength and acknowledgment of one’s own capabilities, limitations, and support of friends and family.

The climb is yet great either way and should be approved not by others but by the individual. Continue on my brother, my sister, my friend.
