Displaced love!

By Taquetta Baker

One of the types of "love" the Bible talks about that we do not discuss is "Aheb" or "Ahab" love. This is an inordinate type of love where people have obsessive and/or sexual desires for little children and teens even though they are adults, have desires and fascinations to the point of raping to meet their twisted fantasies and lusts. It is an inordinate love where people have obsessions with objects and sadistic/weird fetishes and sex acts, people are in love with actors, singers, famous people and wish these people were their family members, or allow themselves to be abused and taken advantage of because they are fame struck or their love is displaced, or people fall in love with their pastors, leaders, mentors, spiritual parents and vice versa and the relationship becomes inordinate.

Aheb/Ahab is also the type of love that causes addictions to pornography, prostitution, food, drinks, objects, wisdom and etc. It is the love adulterers, fornicators, same sex partners have for their lovers. So, even though there are extremes, any one of us have the potential to engage in this type of love, as Aheb/Ahab love is displaced love, a lustful love or sexual love that operates outside the boundaries of what a healthy relationship should be, especially that of a healthy marriage, family, mentorship, and friendship; therefore it can feed on unrestrained thoughts and lusts of the flesh and mind, and SHIFT a person into engaging all types of behaviors and acts, while thinking they are in love or cannot live without someone or something, but really they are being driven by lust and perversion of the mind, imagination and flesh.

We see an example of this love in II Samuel 13, when Amnon was so attracted to his sister Tamar that he wanted to have sex with her. The Bible talks about how he loved her so until he was sick for her. This is inordinate and unhealthy. Amnon's actions of tricking his sister to come care for him, raping her, then throwing her out the house because after he got what he wanted, his Aheb/Ahab love turned to disgust is a prime example of his misplaced perceptions and desires.

We are seeing this exposed in the world with many of the famous people such as Bill Cosby, R Kelly and others and we are even seeing this in the church though we have coined it church abuse. We are also seeing this with all the weird fetishes, perversions, lusts, sadistic acts, rapes, serial rapes, raping kids for perceived healing purposes, inordinate affections, etc., that are in the world.

One of R Kelly's girls did a video saying she was not being harmed. But truthfully, when he decided to put young women half his age in homes, under the guise of making them famous, and their fascination with fame and with him caused them to compromise their integrity, self-worth, virtue, and the true destiny of God for their lives, Aheb/Ahab was already at work. Aheb/Arab is a fantasy love. And in order for it to work you have to pretend what you are doing is okay even to a point where you no longer know that is not okay as the fantasy has become your false world of reality.

Study the different types of love in the Bible and begin teaching your children, teenagers, communities and ministries about them. Boundaries is so key to keeping our perspective and desires in alignment with God and the standards he has set for our lives.
