Grice Funeral Service www.aegrice.co.uk Challenges/Ambitions “Player retention is a hot topic with players moving away to university being a recent trend, this coupled with retirements and injuries puts strain on availability. I am a big believer though that these things come in cycles and with such a large youth set up we should be ok. At a playing level, our ambitions are to regularly put out a first, second and vets team, establish the first team in Midlands 2 and prevent the club being forever deemed as a yo-yo club! We also aim to build a club extension and all-weather pitches, promote and expand the women’ s sections and for continued success of the minis and juniors section.” “I currently play on the wing for the club and have also sponsored them for around five years. I first started playing for their U12’s when my schoolteacher started coaching there twenty-two years ago. I’m looking forward to the new season and feel the club is going in the right direction with some great coaches as well as the best training structure we’ve ever had.” Eddie Smith, Euro-Projects Recruitment “I am the Club Secretary and started playing for Ashby RFC in 1997 as a number 8 and now play for the vets. My son plays for the U12’s and I am assistant coach for them too. We’ve sponsored the club for five years and wish all the teams across the Club the best of luck for the season.” Ben Gregory, Harlequin Logistics 62 Issue 88 www.rugbyclubmag.com 63
