Llandudno “I must also thank our 1st XV manager Mathew Tyson Cole who is ten years in remission from bowl cancer and is a great club member and always influential in all club activities. Mathew raises lots of money for the club by getting sponsors in and as a player he also played against Jonah Lomu. He was a successful team manager and works his heart out for the club.” Robbie Shields Ian Williams is a 1st XV prop for Llandudno who was part of last season’s Champion winning team. At the age of 44 he is determined to hang in playing till he can compete in a match alongside son Aaron. Ian told us, “After a time away from the sport I ended up back involved when I took Aaron down to the club as a nine year old, the taster sessions he had taken gave him a great appetite and love for the sport. It wasn’t long before I was involved in coaching his team and subsequently putting on my own boots to play for the seniors in my favoured prop position. These days Aaron is a prop for RGC’s U18s and plays for Llandudno when available. Last season was great for the club and having Kelvin there and his experience made all the difference, there was a knew confidence about the team as we progressed through the season with many old attitudes and fears being dispelled, we really enjoyed ourselves and looked forward to many away fixtures which at one time held trepidation for us. The club are fortunate to have great people involved at all levels with Faye our physio and Tyson our team manger springing to mind amongst the many others who have contributed beyond what was asked. My business Cerrig Granit have always enjoyed supporting Llandudno RFC in any way we can and I would like to wish everyone associated with this great club the very best of continued success for the 2019/2020 campaign – let’s see if we can win this league again!” www.rugbyclubmag.com 55
