PENARTH
Sue and Paul from InSpira
Academy recently spoke to Rugby
Club Magazine about their long and
positive association with Penarth
RFC. Paul said, “I played rugby for the
club as a teenager but I had to make
a decision to either follow my other
passion music and drumming or risk
breaking fingers and not being able to
play so I decided to travel the music
path. I have however always remained
an avid supporter and sponsor of the
club and can’t speak highly enough
about the tremendous enjoyment they
have provided me with personally
over the years.
Sue continued, “I suppose my
involvement with the club was greatly
influenced by my teachers at school
who played for Penarth, John Huw
Williams, who captained and coached
the club and Cyril Evans. The current
coach at the club Matt Bolton is also
the Sports teacher at the school so
a bit of tradition going on there. Like
Paul said I can’t speak highly enough about this great club and their dedication to young and old alike. The service they provide to the
local community and our young players is exceptional and deserves recognition.”
They both continued, “We currently live between Spain and Wales but when we are home we always make the rugby club a regular
part of our lives. As a long-time club sponsor we also like to support them in any way we can and in fact I provided Reflexology to the
players in years gone by. The buzz and positive atmosphere around the club is electric at the moment coming off the back of a great
finale to last season with the amazing six game winning streak and we are looking forward to the challenges of the 2019/2020 season.
“The natural camaraderie and connection the players and members are enjoying is wonderful as you witness the generations of
players and coaches changing hands, many of the young players we know from years ago are still involved as senior players. A great
many of our friends are involved with Penarth Rugby Club and it is a place that is very dear to us so we would both like to thank everyone
at Penarth for the great fun they have bestowed upon us over the years and with the great army of young players coming through we
are sure its future is certain for many decades to come!”
Stuart Munro moved from Denny, Scotland to Penarth as
a nine-year-old. He told Rugby Club Magazine, “My dad
worked for the Coal board and we moved to South Wales
through his work. I played a few seasons at Penarth usually in
the 2nd row position and thoroughly enjoyed my experience
and friendships at the club. A lot of credit has to be given to
the members and coaches at Penarth who have offered a great
service to our young people locally and the chance to play and
develop through rugby.
My company Curo are delighted to be a club sponsor and give a
little back. We feel it’s important to support all local sports who
are offering a positive service to the community. I would like
to wish everyone at Penarth RFC the very best of continued
success for many seasons to come!”
