Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with Club Chairman Robbie Shields to find out more about how they have been getting along lately. He told us, “I first played for this club at seventeen, my first youth team coach was Howie Roberts who is now our president. My school sports teacher Dewi Miles played and coached our 1st XV, he encouraged all players to play for Llandudno Rugby Club and is now chair of our development sub- committee. “The whole club and certain individuals are all challenging, to see my old next door neighbour Dave Davies whom I grew up with become the main sponsor of our club last season, and his brother John one of the 1st XV coaching team, along with referee colleague whom we reffed for north wales refs society Ritchy Reece it was a very proud feeling 52 Issue 87 especially with Daves son Kelvin taking on player coach responsibility and his nephew Day Day being club captain. This was very rewarding with all of us bought up in challenging circumstances. “The mood at the club is great, like one big happy family, with all members getting involved and certainly some fun times being had at the club bar. To have the 3rd battalion Royal Welsh bring shenkin the goat to our annual dinner with Robin Mcbryde as guest speaker was great, the goat is our emblem on our shirts. Goat major Mark Jackson nicked him from the Great Orme where I live, so it was rewarding seeing him in such good hands, the Goat is looking after him well!
