aiming to field a regular 2nd XV again. With the influx
of younger players into the 1st XV we should be able to
achieve that. There will also be a few fixtures for the “old
knackers” which have been quiet of late. In addition, off
the field we will continue to make the club feel like home

- without it I doubt we could sustain the club for very
long. Our Academy Coaches all play for the senior sides
as do some of the older age Grade coaches. We have
regular input from the 1st Team manager and senior
players on Sunday helping out teams and individual
players. A lot of the older youth players come down
on Saturday to watch the seniors and help out running
touch, bringing water and the medical bag on. We are
quite joined up in that respect.”
Bob Dockerty has been a sponsor
and friend of Edenbridge Rugby
Club for 30 years with his business
Larkins Brewery. He told us, “I was
invited down to the club many years
ago to see the great Peter Wheeler
and struck a deal with the lads that if
they sold my beer I would buy them
their shirts.
That was around thirty years ago.
They are a great bunch at the club
and its fantastic the work they do in
the local community helping young
people into the sport. I’m delighted
they have been chosen to be paid
tribute to in Rugby Club Magazine.”
