Northampton Casuals Rob Dearing recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his positive association with Northampton Casuals RFC, saying, “I played most of my rugby as a back-row player and usually as no 8 for Stockwood Park who played in the same league as the Casuals last season. I made a special effort to visit the club on the fixtures when both teams met and naturally would wear my old team jersey which would receive some notice. I also referee, most recently for my son Jacob’s U12s team and before that U10 and 11s down at Daventry Rugby Club. The Northampton region is a real hot bed of rugby clubs and Northampton Casuals provide a great service to the local area and in some ways are front runners in providing opportunities for young people to become involved in Rugby. The game has changed a lot over the past twenty years with many positive additions brought in by the RFU to improve safety in tackling and general play plus more attention has been given to strength and conditioning, particularly for those body parts like knees which perhaps are more likely to be injured and need to be looked after more for that reason. Our company Clifford Roberts are very proud of our association with the Casuals and very much value our long standing friendships and association with the club. They have a really good group of members who put a lot of effort into making this club one of the most respected in the region. I would like to congratulate everyone at Northampton Casuals Rugby Club on their achievements so far and wish them continued success for the 2019/2020 campaign!” Andy Dimmock is an ex-player, ex-president and sponsor at Northampton Casuals Rugby Club. He told us, “Myself and both my brothers Martyn and Trevor played for the Casuals as did Trevor’s son Marcus and my own son Alex. I started playing in my mid-teens mainly in the backs, playing most positions over the years but quite often as full back. Last season was a very good one for our club with many of our teams competing really strongly particularly with a lot of good young players coming through the ranks. The main challenge we faced were really coping with the challenges of injuries as the season progressed Whatever your needs, we can help. • Compliance Services • Support Services • Consultancy & Systems Advice • Business Start Up • Investments & Pensions • Taxation • Corporate Finance www.cliffordroberts.com Wellingborough Office 01933 443311 [email protected] 63 Broad Green, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire NN8 4LQ Northampton Office 01604 642933 [email protected] Pacioli House, 9 Brookfield, Duncan Close, Moulton Park, Northampton NN3 6WL and if a few close games had gone our way then the league would have been ours. Nevertheless, promotion was gained by a very good side and our thriving junior section will surely ensure the future of the club for years to come with some of our mid teenage teams already demonstrating great quality, skill and unity in their play.
