RUGBY CLUB
As the current President of Barns Green Rugby Club it is a real
pleasure to be one of several founder members of our club (1991) that
are still actively involved in supporting and developing rugby in our
community.
Community sport in general is in a very
challenging place currently, competing
for visibility and space with current
generations that have more options
and choices of how to use the time
that they have at their disposal
than ever before.
Our task as administrators of
our Club is to stay close to the
players and by listening and
taking action on what we hear,
make Barns Green a great place
to play rugby; somewhere to team
up with like-minded people with
whom you can become friends with
for life.

Promotion to Sussex One at the end
of season 18/19 was a much-deserved
reward for our coaching and player
group and finds us welcoming this
higher standard of Sussex rugby
for the forthcoming season. A
link up with 02 Touch, also last
season has seen us adding more
members to our pool and the
mixed nature and non-contact
features of this game is helping
us introduce new people and
bring past players back to this
enjoyable and participative form of
rugby.
“I was encouraged to join the
team in 2002 by my friend
Ross young and played as an
openside flanker for fifteen
years before stopping due to
injury. I’ve also sponsored the
club since 2006. Barns Green
is a small club that has done
extremely well. Next season
could be a challenge but if
you continue training hard and
keep the morale up I’m sure you
should be alright. All the best
for the coming season.”
