Most of our players have come through the youth section in the last few years and the transition has been very successful and the proof is how the guys enjoy playing together and how they have improved their skills and fitness. “We are a community club and we supply all the bar staff and helpers to the local beer and music festival - ‘Fairfest’. We support a few charities, including the British Legion for the Poppy collection and earlier this year a group of rugby club members ran a half marathon in London for the ‘Make a Wish’ charity. “We face two massive challenges in the coming years: to play well next season and retain our place in Division 1 and to create a long overdue, permanent clubhouse. Other challenges include ensuring we increase the number of coaches in the mini and youth section and maintaining numbers across the club.” “I was a part of the original 1st team at Fairford; George Ellis spoke to people in the pubs and got a team together for Sunday mornings. I have been Vice-President for four years now and have also sponsored the club for the past couple of years. I played in the 2nd row between 1997 and 2016, stopping playing at the age of forty when I owned my own business and the younger players were starting to run rings around me! The team is a playing a very good standard of rugby now and are a close group on and off the field. They are a very young, dynamic squad whose speed and fitness are key to their success while Danny Briggs is a great leader. I’d just like to say well done for the 2018/19 season and good luck for 2019/20 – I will be there supporting you.” Simon Cribley
