Edinburgh Northern FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Edinburgh Northern RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB Edinburgh Northern is a fine example of a club that continues to retain the traditional values that make rugby such a special game. President Drew Chapman recently took the time to tell us more about the club and the good work they’ve been doing. He said, “I’ve been a member of the club since 2003, so for sixteen years. I was persuaded down by a friend for a one-off game and have been hooked ever since!” “It’s a definite challenge as President to ensure that a grass roots club that primarily funds itself and is run by volunteers Edinburgh Property Maintenance Services Est.2014 “NO JOB TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL” Premier Handyman is Edinburgh’s solution to all your property maintenance requirements. Our members come to enjoy themselves playing and watching rugby, and we often need to ask for their support or time over and above this. “However, the fantastic atmosphere on a successful club day, playing wise or socially, is really rewarding. When we Rory Pounds has been involved with Edinburgh Northern RFC as a player over the last five seasons. He took time out of his busy schedule recently to chat with Rugby Club Magazine, saying, “I feel we had a very decent 2018/19 season. As a team, winning the Regional Bowl and losing by a small margin in the National Bowl Semi-final and personally by being nominated Players’ Player of the season! Our form was contributed to greatly by the hard work put in on and off the field by the players, captain and coaches. I mainly play No.6 but can cover any position in the back row. I feel that if the lads continue to train hard and commitment levels stay high we can look forward to improving our game for next season. I moved to Edinburgh in 2014 with my wife Fiona, who is from the Scottish Borders. Myself being English, you can imagine the rivalry in our household! I have played Rugby all over the world including Canada, France and Australia and have known many clubs in my time. However, I have to say I have never encountered such a warm, welcoming and family friendly club as Edinburgh Northern. My business Premier Handyman has also sponsored the club over a couple seasons. I would like to thank the club, players and members of Edinburgh Northern Rugby Football Club for all the fun and friendship over the years wishing everyone all the very best for the 2019/2020 campaign – and of course for the Rugby World Cup!”
