build on that. This season, the club’s 1st XV has been an
amalgam of young players breaking into the top level,
players who have performed at this level for two or three
seasons, and a number of more experienced players
returning from more senior clubs.
“The net result has been a team that is more self-
confident and resilient. Competition for places has been
more intense. Attendances at training have remained
consistently high across the season, with themed sessions
such as The Scrum Factory and a Yoga session breaking
up any potential monotony. We had high numbers of
pre-season strength and conditioning sessions that set
up players for the start of the league season. We made
a good start, and maintained this across the league
campaign, scoring over 1000 points and averaging seven
tries per game”.
“This season goes down as exceptional,” said John
Norman, “with all three senior men’s sides winning their
leagues and securing promotion, as well as winning the
