Taunton FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Steve Frost Youth Chair (Volunteer of the Year 18/19) Our club is friendly has a fantastic atmosphere has a great balance between professional and volunteer staff, who’s ultimate goal is to move the club to beyond National Rugby and maintain the premier status it holds in Somerset. Youth rugby is very important to us; without the youth section the community aspect in this premier Somerset club would struggle to survive. It’s great to see examples of youth players playing for the youth team and they have also progressed onto professional careers. As a previous youth coach, it’s extremely satisfying and humbling to see players like Joe Snow and Kieran Verdan making the grade and to be part of that journey is fantastic. We massively rely on all our volunteers they are the heart of the club although we have very professional and able permanent staff without the volunteers the club and the youth sections would struggle to fulfil the standards it currently achieves. From the volunteers that assist in the coaching of the rugby to the parents who help with admin and the grounds team who get the facilities ready 82 Issue 86 and of Friends of Titans we are always extremely grateful and feel lucky to have such enthusiastic and willing supporters of our club. I enjoy the atmosphere and the community spirit, from watching the senior Titans squad playing National rugby to the development squad all the way through to the youth section down to the rascals. Seeing all the juniors developing and enjoying the rugby in a safe environment by enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference can only be the most satisfying and enjoyable experience any member could wish for. The future looks great. Every year we constantly have representation in County, DPP and EPDG throughout the junior sections. I would eventually like to see an academy here, with the size of the club and the facilities that we have here it would be great to see the club grow and for the RFU to invest here. We want to continue upholding the current membership with youth players that all strive to play their best and develop themselves.
