Enniscorthy
Clive Gethings is an ex-player of
Enniscorthy Rugby Club. He told
Rugby Club Magazine, “I played
from Under 9s to the age of 17, as
a front row hooker, when work and
family commitments meant I couldn’t
continue. My sons both play for the
club; Adam is 18 and a current 2nd
team player and Jamie is now part of
the club’s excellent mini section.
It’s been an absolutely phenomenal
effort and achievement for the club
this season to have reached the
heights they have at many different
levels which is a reflection on all the
hard work that local people have put
in.
My business Gethings Garage Ltd
are also proud supporters of the club
and myself and everyone here would
like to congratulate the club on their
promotion to the All Ireland leagues
and wish them the very best of luck
for the 2019/2020 campaign!”

The club is thriving with mini, youths, womens and seniors
all going really strong. It is great to see so many successful
past players now coaching mini, youths and ladies teams,
continuing and passing on the inclusive community vibe within
the club that anyone who visits the Ross Road enjoys.
Our promotion to senior status creates a new challenge
to the squad which all past players would be envious of. With
the coaching team in place and the continued development
of the culture and raising of their own standards the squad
have a fantastic opportunity to create more history within the
club. The continued commitment of ‘home grown’ players
transitioning through the club’s youth system is one of the
backbones to ensuring we don’t get ahead of ourselves and
have steadily been knocking on the door of senior status for
the past few years.
The only concern I have is the hierarchies vision for the club
game; I’d welcome the IRFU to expediate their decision on the
make-up of the AIL and provincial leagues going forward, so
as all clubs can try to plan out their paths in the years ahead
both on and off the field. That is out of our hands, onwards and
upwards for ‘scorthy!”

Aine Doyle of Enniscorthy Credit
Union recently spoke to Rugby
Club Magazine about her positive
association with Enniscorthy Rugby
Club, saying, “My daughter played
at the club and I know many
people over there. They have had
a fantastic season and we are
all very proud of the club and its
members. As a company we are
also a sponsor of the club and like
to support local initiatives and sport.
I would like to wish everyone at the
club the very best of continued
success in the All Ireland Leagues
next season!”
