“Youth rugby is essential to us and
part of our DNA. Home grown players
throughout the senior teams understand
the Club’s ethos and are crucial to our
success. It is also incredibly rewarding
to see young boys and girls in such
numbers enjoying our great game.

opportunities for those that might not
otherwise get them. The core values of
rugby are so true in all that we do.
“One of our biggest challenges is lack
of space given the incredible numbers of
juniors we have (just short of 900) and
the increasing costs across the board.
We are confident with our coaching
team that we will compete at this level
and continue to enjoy rugby through all
the teams. As a management team we

have to consider succession planning
in all roles and particularly through
volunteers and junior coaches that we
are so lucky to have.
“We wish to play at the highest level
possible for an amateur club and provide
rugby for all. We would like to outreach
to the community even more and would
love a little extra space and a 3G pitch.”
Simon Welham is an ex rugby player and a
sponsor of the club with his business Welham
Jones Funeral Directors. He recently told Rugby
Club Magazine, “I played blind side for many
years including a spell with The Bank of England
until my body started to suffer and after playing
some matches in Bahrain on difficult surfaces
I made the decision to hang my boots up.
Connections with Sevenoaks Rugby Club came
through sponsorship and it was a great way to
connect my business with a great club who were
very noticeably part of the local community.
This season has been outstanding for the
club with the promotions and success but the
club have always had a great infrastructure
and provide a fantastic service to the local
community. The seniors are a real and necessary
role model to the younger players coming
through who are the life blood of any club. I
would like to congratulate everyone involved
at Sevenoaks Rugby Club on their efforts and
encourage them to keep it going for many more
generations to come!”
