Nantgaredig “I moved to the area thirty years ago and have been impressed by the club since then. Although I never played for Nantgaredig I am a big fan and this season particularly they have been a real joy to watch. The club is blessed by many great stalwarts who have effectively built the club from the ground upwards. The development of their facilities and their additional room has allowed them to offer the club for local occasions and events that I have participated in myself. Over the years, I have watched with interest the standard of rugby improve and the play being molded into the heights they have reached this season. The face of rugby has changed a lot over the years with the coaching divide between professional and grass roots clubs reducing drastically. Nantgaredig are a real hub of the local community and offer a level playing field for anyone wishing to be part of them. My businesses have sponsored the club for over fifteen years now and I enjoy helping the club in a small way. The support and enthusiasm the supporters bring, epitomised in the recent bowl semi final, is second to none and I wish all my friends at Nantgaredig Rugby Club the very best of continued success!” Simon Wright “I have had two spells at Nantgaredig Rugby Club before a hamstring injury and work and family commitments, including the birth of my son Logan took precedent. My first spell was between age 19-21 and although I played at a higher lever for some other Carmarthenshire clubs like Quins 7 athletic I did return to Nant four or so years when they were in Division 3. Barry Thomas was a great influence during my time at the club and a great coach also. My main playing position was outside half and my dad was also a great supporter of the club and continues to be to this day. Unfortunately, I don’t get down to see the lads as I am usually away with family on weekends but am delighted for everyone at the club and believe that if they all continue to stick together next season will be a good one.” Darren Williamson www.rugbyclubmag.com 11
