In sincerity though after the back of a fruitful season both on the pitch and off the pitch spirits are high with players and committee members alike.” Last Season “I would like to say the season has gone very well both on and off the pitch. With the 1st XV having won fifteen, lost four and drawn one and the 2nd XV team winning thirteen and losing six. Off the pitch there has been a massive surge of sponsors thank to the hard work of the committee. These sponsors have helped us buy two new commercial boilers, install a set of floodlights on our current ones to allow training on the darker evenings on our 2nds pitch, buy a 1st XV and 2nd XV kit and finally erect sponsorship boarding around the main pitch. Without all the hard work from the players, coaching staff, committee and the sponsors we would not have had the successful season we have had.” What Next? “My personal plans are to regain my fitness that I have already lost from the end of the season! The plan for Stothert and Pitt for from a committee perspective is to complete projects that are planned for the preseason whether it is ‘TLC’ projects or making sure private hire events go off without any issues. From a player’s perspective the plan is to be getting ready to hit the ground running for both teams next season, hopefully looking to try and get a promotion for our 2nd XV. It’ll be hard graft but the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” Youth “Youth rugby is important to us and is part of our ten year plan to try and initiate a successful minis section with our club. We have always been successful in the past with focusing on a single youth team and focus their incorporation into our 1XVs and 2ndXVs; but it would be nice to have minis with a couple of teams and it becoming a permanent thing. This is a while off just yet with a lot of planning ahead but we look forward to it.” www.rugbyclubmag.com 103
