Beaconsfield DRY CLEANING & DOMESTIC LAUNDRY Providing laundry and drycleaning to the residents of Beaconsfield for over 85 years. • Dry Cleaning Services • 2hr & Same Day Options • 10% off with a Preferential Card • Domestic Laundry • Shirt Laundering • Wedding Dresses • Ironing Services • Home Furnishings • Alterations & Repairs • Textile Care Products (i.e. recent Colts) representing the senior sides, with over 50 young lads stepping up and making their mark on all the Senior sides. We have also had a slew of “Dads and Lads” joint appearances – with an uncanny number of the debutants scoring tries as they outpaced their fathers. We are also very fortunate in Youth that over half of the coaches are still playing themselves. “The traditional distinction between “Saturday Senior” and “Sunday Mini and Youth” has all but disappeared, with fantastic integration and cross- fertilisation being achieved between all parts of the club. Senior players and coaches have really bought into assisting the Mini and Youth sections on Sundays, and the Saturday Senior pre-match lunches, and matches, are well-attended by members from the whole club. The club is proud to be a community club, in every sense of the word (we are a CASC), and 82 schools and colleges are represented in our Mini and Youth sections. “President Mike Wood has been a member of the club longer than I have been alive (he seems to be settling in OK!), and is, literally, the pater familias of BRFC. His wife Jane, daughter Katie and daughter-in-law Sally run the event catering, son Nick is a recent First XV player and Director of Rugby, and son- in-law Dave Rendell is a First XV player, U14 coach and Club Coaching Co- ordinator. The President’s grandson is a talented U14, clearly having inherited his grandmother Jane’s sporting genes. “Beaconsfield RFC is currently in a very exciting place thanks to the work done by so many for so long. However, we understand that complacency cannot be allowed to creep in and have an ongoing programme for continuous BLUE DRAGON DRY CLEANERS AT YOUR SERVICE BRANCHES: BEACONSFIELD | BOURNE END GERRARDS CROSS | ICKENHAM MORE AT WWW.BLUEDRAGON.UK.COM improvement, both on and off the field. On the field, we are delighted to finally be able to offer rugby to ladies and girls, and on a Saturday have the potential to put out four senior mens teams, which is really bucking the trend of the last year or so. “We are delighted to announce that a new Head Coach, Tom French, has been appointed. Tom is an ex Wasps and England Saxon, who would still be playing if it not for unfortunate injuries. We are delighted and very excited to have Tom coaching at BRFC. “Off the field, the club has ambitious plans to update and expand the club house to both improve the existing facilities for our existing members and to make our changing rooms suitable for the girls and ladies. All in all, BRFC is a great place to be for the whole family, both on and off the field. New members of every level are made to feel very welcome: come and join us!” www.rugbyclubmag.com 101
