RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
H
enley RFC is a great example of how a strong set up off the field can
provide the base for a club to move forward on the pitch. Rugby
Club Magazine recently caught up with their Membership Secretary Martin
Bidlake-Corser to find out more.
He told us, “The mood in the club
itself is very positive with the new
clubhouse now in place and we’re just
finishing off the changing rooms so we’re
going to have some first class facilities.
We’re looking forward to the new season
very much I would say.” good squad together with around eighty
per cent of last year’s players re-signing.
We have some exciting youngsters
coming through and have added a
couple of quality players as well so
things are looking good. I think we’ll be
disappointed if we don’t finish in the top
five which would be a good step forward
from what we achieved last year.”
Present Off the Field
“It was a busy off-season as we had
a lot to do. There’s been a lot of building
work going on and I’m pleased to say
that it is all looking very good now.
We’re very lucky in that we’ve got a “Alistair Beynon has joined as
our Commercial Manager and we’re
confident that we’ve a strong team
in place behind the scenes to help us
move forward. We are a community
Atmosphere
club and the work that we carried out
is helping us to grow the involvement
we have. Having good facilities is vital
and more and more we will be seeing
those facilities being used by the local
community.
There are a lot of strong sports
clubs in town which can give us some
competition but our membership has
continued to grow with a lot of new
social members which is great to see.
I think that is because people are
pleased with the quality of the venue we
have now. We’ve raised our profile in
the local area and know that it is a place
where they can come and enjoy their
time here.”
