Currie Chieftains
the scenes also, a lot of work is going in
with the re-brand with a new website
just being launched (curriechieftains.
org).
Youth rugby is so important at
Currie. We have had a number of players
who have gone through the ranks at
mini and midis and have either gone on
to represent their club at 1st XV level and
some have also gone professional.
The coaches and backroom staff work
so hard with the Youth section to train,
feed and organise them every week. We
have seen more and more kids interested
in taking up rugby which is fantastic so
our Youth section is really thriving and
getting better each year!
We love to take part in all community
events and encourage everyone to watch
the rugby on a Saturday. This year we
have taken part in the local Pram Race
and also the Balerno Music Festival. We
have also been working very hard at the
moment making improvements to the
clubhouse to make the facilities better.
The new league structure just
announced by Scottish Rugby’s Mark
Dodson will certainly throw some
challenges our way. Do we become a
Super 6 team or do we stay as is? Who
knows, but it will certainly be interesting
to see how that all pans out. I know there
will be different opinions from everyone
but we have this season to think about
what we will be doing. We want to stand
out and be the best club in Scotland.
We are the first rugby club to go
through this re brand process and I think
a lot more will follow in our footsteps.
We want to continue driving numbers
through the minis all the way through
to the senior section. The more players
the better. We have a great standard of
rugby at Curie and it just keeps getting
better.
This season the 1st XVs goal is to
win the league. After reaching the
playoffs the last few years we are edging
ever closer to another BT Premiership
Victory.”
