Canvey Island RUFC enjoyed plenty of success in last season with their first
team clinching promotion. Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with
Club Representative Richard Smith to gain an insight into their success.
RC: How would you say last season went for the club?
RS: The 2016/2017 season went very well for us. Our 1st XV
gained promotion into the London 3 Essex league. Our 2nd XV
completed a remarkable treble, finishing top of the Essex Merit
Table, winning the Merit table cup and also the John Adler cup
competition. This was rounded off in the traditional ‘rugby’
way, with an end of season presentation and a fantastic end of
season tour to Belgium.
