RUGBY CLUB
S
kegness Rugby Club enjoyed a fantastic campaign campaign last
season and have been working hard to make sure that they are
successful again this time around. Senior player Zak Jenkins recently took
the time to tell Rugby Club Magazine more about the club.
Involvement Atmosphere
He told us, “I’ve been involved with Skegness rugby club
since 2005 at the age of 11. A junior member of the club from
the under 14s approached me asking me to join the club. The
thought of playing a new sport that is relatively unplayed
around the area and unknown to me, drew me towards the
club and the game.” “Having come from a season where both the first and the
second teams had both won their respective leagues, the mood
around the club is very positive and players are eager to start
the forthcoming season and continue the success of the club.”
Last Season
The Role
“Having taking over the captaincy for the forthcoming
season the most challenging aspects of my role is to keep
players focused and interested in the club and the game. The
most rewarding moments come from watching the team play
well and reacting in a positive manner during the toughest of
games ensuring that team morale is at a maximum.”
74 Issue 73
“The 2016/17 season for Skegness rugby has been the most
successful in the club’s history. With the firsts winning the
Midlands 5 East North League and the seconds winning the
Lincolnshire Merit League and finals cup it pushed the club
toward a great future.”
2017/18
“2017 is going to be a tough year for Skegness, but the plans
are to build a stronger unit within the club and push forward
