Old Alleynians Old Alleynians RUGBY CLUB Old Alleynians is a community rugby club based in South East London providing rugby, in its various forms to the whole community. It has a history dating back to 1898 and the 2016-2017 season has been an eventful one for the club as it embarks on a long term strategic plan to enhance its offer and its facilities. With new governance in place and a newly structured management team driving things forward the club is buoyant at the moment, building on its recent successes both on and off the field. Running five men’s senior sides, one of the final, critical pieces of the jigsaw will be in place as the club launches its women’s team for the 2017-2018 season after a successful England Rugby Inner Warrior taster session recently. This will support a player pathway for its rapidly growing girls section, which has developed from around 40 to almost 100 players in the last 16 months. Youth rugby has been central to the success of the club in recent years and the club currently has 839 registered youth players, including a CUBs section, some 25 strong, offering rugby themed FUNdamental play for 2 to 5 year olds, preparing them for their first experience of Age Grade Rugby, in a fun environment. The youth section’s academy (U16 to U18), which has been in place for four seasons, has grown from 60 strong to over 90 in a short period of time with 20 of the 25 players from last season’s U18s transitioning to senior rugby, playing in all senior sides with the exception of the 1st XV. The long-term objective, is to transition all youth players in to www.rugbyclu XY˘B
