Old Alleynians RUGBY CLUB

Old Alleynians is a community rugby club based in South East London providing rugby , in its various forms to the whole community . It has a history dating back to 1898 and the 2016-2017 season has been an eventful one for the club as it embarks on a long term strategic plan to enhance its offer and its facilities .
With new governance in place and a newly structured management team driving things forward the club is buoyant at the moment , building on its recent successes both on and off the field .
Running five men ’ s senior sides , one of the final , critical pieces of the jigsaw will be in place as the club launches its women ’ s team for the 2017-2018 season after a successful England Rugby Inner Warrior taster session recently . This will support a player pathway for its rapidly growing girls section , which has developed from around 40 to almost 100 players in the last 16 months .
Youth rugby has been central to the success of the club in recent years and the club currently has 839 registered youth players , including a CUBs section , some 25 strong , offering rugby themed FUNdamental play for 2 to 5 year olds , preparing them for their first experience of Age Grade Rugby , in a fun environment .
The youth section ’ s academy ( U16 to U18 ), which has been in place for four seasons , has grown from 60 strong to over 90 in a short period of time with 20 of the 25 players from last season ’ s U18s transitioning to senior rugby , playing in all senior sides with the exception of the 1st XV .
