Emyr Jones is a local lad who played a
little youth rugby for the club many years
ago. More recently he has been a sponsor
and fan of Newcastle Emlyn RFC. He
told Rugby Club Magazine, “It’s a great
achievement to have maintained a rugby
club, with its many successes, for the past
forty years.
Unfortunately, I wa s only able to get to a
few games last season and hope to increase
that this year. In the matches I attended I
was very impressed by the quality of the
play. The Premier Shop has been a sponsor
for the past few seasons and we like to help
when we can. Congratulations to everyone
at Newcastle Emlyn Rugby Club on what
they have achieved in the past and I wish
them all the very best of continued success
for the next 40 years!”
Recent Achievements
2009-10 – 1st XV Division 3 West Champions
2011-12 – 2nd XV won Llanelli & District Cup, Youth
XV won Scarlets A League, West Carms Cup and lost
in National League Play Off Final
2012-13 – 1st XV runners-up Division 3 West, West
Wales Bowl, National League Play Off match against
Newport High School Old Boys, 2nd XV Won
Division 1 All Wales Sport League
2013-14 – 1st XV promoted to Division 1 under
League re-organisation
2014-15 – 1st XV Won Division 1 West and beat
Bonymaen in the play off to enter the WRU
Championship, they also lost to Ystrad Rhondda in
the WRU Plate competition played at the Millennium
Stadium, 2nd XV won the Carmarthen Tyres League
2015-16 – 1st XV remained in the Championship, 2nd
XV won Scarlets League, Llanelli & District Cup and
trophies for scoring most tries and league points
2016-17 – 1st XV finished in 5th position in the
Championship, 2nd XV took part in WRU Pilot
scheme playing friendlies against 1st XVs playing in
Division 3 West C
