Llew Rees of club
sponsors Garmalt Ready
Mix Concrete and Cware
Pantgwyn Quarry Ltd
recently
told
Rugby
Club Magazine, “We
have enjoyed supporting
Newcastle Emlyn Rugby
club and attending the
various events over the
years. Kevin Thomas has
been an excellent chairman
for the club, taking them to
their highest ever league
position last season in
their 40th year. Myself and
all the staff at Garmalt and
the Quarry would like to
wish everyone associated
with the club the very best
of continued success for
the next 40 years!”
Matthew James is an ex
player, committee member
and sponsor of Newcastle
Emlyn RFC with his family
business Cardigan Bay
Trading. He recently told
Rugby Club Magazine, “Some
school friends led me to the
club as a 10 year old and I
started playing with the
youth sides, eventually
graduating to senior rugby
as a centre and ball carrier,
playing a few games for the
1st XV but mostly the 2nds.
I went onto coaching the
2nds for five seasons after
I stopped playing due to a
knee injury.”
“Despite a few early blips
at the start of this season
the first team finished
strong, especially in such a
competitive league where
many other clubs have more
resources to draw from than
Newcastle Emlyn.
“Cardigan Bay Trading
has been a club sponsor
for the past two years and
we like to help out when
we can. Congratulations to
everyone at the club in their
40th year and who knows
maybe next season we will
win the Championship!”
