very hard to try and bring as many young players through
to the senior teams as possible.
It’s always a struggle to ensure young players make
the transition into the senior game; teenagers find other
things they are interested in and tend to move away from
the sport. My Father, who is newly appointed Director
of Rugby, is working very closely with the Colts coaches
and helping to develop these players so they can make the
transition into the senior game.”
Community
“We are an amateur grass roots community rugby
club; we don’t pay any of our players for turning out for us
on a Saturday afternoon and all of our players have either
come through the mini junior section, or players who
have moved into the area. We want a local club for local
players.”
Ambitions
“Our ambition is to get promoted this season into
National 3 North; this league has Preston, Kirkby Lonsdale
and Kendal in and this would be great for the local rugby
community if we could also be in this league.
We do need to make some further pitch and clubhouse
improvements which we will do when we can, but our
main ambition is to make the club sustainable for future
generations. My Grandfather played for the club in the 70s,
my father played in the 90’s, I played and I would like my
Son to play in the future.”
