“ We have been involved with Tyldesley Rugby Club , on a personal level , since around 2004 , when our youngest son joined the mini and juniors . When the team found themselves without a Manager I took over the role and continued until 2014 , along with Darren Edge , whose wealth of knowledge of the game was a massive plus for the lads . During that time we organised various fund raising events and took the lads bag packing at local supermarkets , to raise funds to take the team to Ireland and the Isle of Man to take part in tournaments , which they went on to win ! We had some great successes with the team and also enjoyed many social events as families , where firm lifelong friendships were formed . The success of the team was dependent on the commitment and determination of the lads as a team , but also to their parents who gave up so much of their time to ferry the kids to matches and training and organising parties for Christmas and Halloween etc . A number of the team are still with Tyldesley , having gone on to play for the 1st Team , such as Connor Edge , Daniel Berrisford , Jack Kirkpatrick and Matthew Gallagher , who has also gone on to play for England Under 18 ’ s and at the recent Presentation evening it gave us great pride to see some of the youngsters who started with the club as young tag team players , now receiving awards as adults . We donated funds to help pay towards taking the current Under 13 ’ s team to the Isle of Man where they were taking part in a curtain raiser against Vagabonds , before the 1st Teams crucial last match of the season to gain promotion .”
