We start preseason shortly and the plan is to get good numbers and their families down to the club over the summer and continue the youth and senior links.” Youth “Youth rugby is hugely important to the club. I, as Director of Rugby, have seen every age group from under 7 upwards last season. Some age groups have huge numbers and are thriving. Others needed a bit of help with coaching or recruitment in local schools. The start-up of a Colts side this season is key to keeping the youth and feeding them into our senior structure.” Community “We keep working on getting our badge out in the community. Coaching in local schools is a big part of it as well as having local companies involving themselves in the maintenance of the club and sponsorship. We are going to give the club a lick of paint this summer, but we are very lucky to have the facilities we do at hale RFC.” Challenges/Ambitions “It is important for us to keep the success the club has going. The youth section could do with some numbers in certain age groups, but the players, coaches and parents are fantastic. Keeping a Colts side is always a hard task, but essential to keeping our players in the club and feeding through to the first team. We are targeting in the coming years maybe one more league promotion maybe as a goal the club and players look for using this time. The minimum aim is sustaining what we have and developing it.” Sharky's Fish & Chips tel: 01736 791490 Penbeagle Industrial Estate St Ives (Top of the hill behind the Fire Station) 40 Issue 72
