Ryland Sharks FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG It is a night where we host a number of businesses who provide award sponsorship or just come to enjoy the evening. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the club and say thanks to all the people who make this club great. The feedback we have had from each year’s dinner has been phenomenal; it really is an event that sets Ryland’s ARLFC aside from any other amateur club in the country. In the words of Terry himself, “I have been to a number of professional events and they were not done as well as Ryland’s do there end of season dinner, it really does make them at the forefront of amateur rugby league certainly in the Northwest if not the country.” We have a successful junior section that is the life blood of the club. Ryland’s ARLFC is the biggest rugby club in the Warrington area offering over 250 children and 60 adults an opportunity to play the sport that they love on a weekly basis. There is a real community feel to the club and week in week out our ground is busy with Junior and senior games and there’s real momentum that this club is starting to go places. The quality of the coaching has helped to bring through the likes of Harvey Livett and Danny Walker who are both plying their trade in Super league for Warrington and Widnes respectively and we have a number of junior players who are currently playing representative rugby or signing academy terms with professional clubs. As a club we do not own our ground or the recreation club and the financial problems that affect everyone in the town are a real challenge for everyone concerned. This also effects our ability to make improvements to the club and the surrounding buildings are we are not able to apply for the grants available to the other clubs. This will be a real challenge for us as for all our best plans to be successful and financially secure the club and the facilities we use have to be profitable for them to be still available to us moving forward. The rugby club, the committee of the recreation club and the football section all pushing in the right direction to make sure Rylands as a club are around for seasons to come. As a chairman I have to ensure that we have a long term goal to ensure everyone involved at the club is pushing in the right direction. The focus for us is to be successful on and off the pitch, and our long term goal is to be in the top division of the NCL by 2022. Our aim is never to be the biggest or the wealthiest but to be the best in everything we do;, we have a great committee, players, commercial partners and supporters and it’s a great time to be a SHARK … GO SHARKS! 34 Issue 72
