Isle of wight FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/RUGBYCLUBMAG Isle of Wight RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB Following a good 2016/17 both on and off the pitch for the Isle of Wight Rugby Football Club, there is a positive aura around the oldest club on the Isle of Wight. On the pitch, both teams performed well in their respective leagues, playing good rugby and scoring lots of points. The 1st XV also had good results against the other Isle of Wight teams, beating Ventnor RFC home and away and conquering Sandown and Shanklin RFC for the first time in many years. The playing philosophy certainly focussed on attack, with the coaching team having the brief of at least 30 guys playing and enjoying their rugby. But the club are not resting on their laurels. Over the summer they 30 Issue 72 will be hosting O2 touch sessions and welcoming all to Lions’ breakfasts with the tests on television. They will also be holding a Natwest RugbyForce improvements weekend, along with a number of social events over the summer. We have really started to see the benefits of improving our bar area and social space. Following a refurbishment by Modh Design, the club won the prestigious 2016 RFU President’s Award for improving facilities. Having worked hard to hold events in the clubhouse, we have
