Amman United Wyn Llewelyn is a club sponsor of Amman United Rugby Club. He recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his positive association with the club, “I started playing youth rugby for the Amman as a 16 year old and continued up until the early to mid-eighties when an injury put an end to my career. My main playing position was in the front row as a prop. Wyn’s Auto Repairs and Sales have been a long term sponsor of the club and we like to help out when asked. Unfortunately, my business commitments don’t allow me to get down to the club as often as I would like, however I do know what a brilliant season the boys have had. Roll on, The Amman!” Success “We have still got the core group of players which was so successful for the seasons between 2011 and 2015. We lost a few players to retirements, moving to other clubs, and most significantly we lost our coaching team Gareth Davies and Tony Williams a few seasons back and the players and new coaches struggled to adapt. This season, both Gareth and Tony have returned and have added recently retired club stalwart Karl Worsfold to the coaching team whom the players have a huge amount of respect for. In addition, some of the retirees have Shahid Hussain is a fan and sponsor of Amman United Rugby Club. He recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his positive association with the club, “Club coaches Tony Williams and Gareth Davies approached me three or four years ago about becoming a sponsor and I was delighted to help out. Over the years that has developed and I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of the people who have been connected with the club young and old. GLANAMMAN TREBANOS I like to get involved within our local community and Amman United is very much a part of that. The journey to and from the Bowl Final at the Principality Stadium was a real occasion and a great experience. Both sets of supporters were magnificent and although the number of fans was only a few thousand the stadium seemed almost full and had an amazing atmosphere. Last year I helped start and support an U8s and U9s tournament for boys and girls where teams from all over Carmarthenshire would come together and compete at Amman. This was a great success and now that the foundations are in place it will continue annually with each year’s winners having their name engraved on the shield. The array of talent on display at this event is breath-taking and promotes rugby throughout the whole of Carmarthenshire. The Amman is a great club and every single person I see seems to contribute something positive from players, fans and coaches to parents and local businesses. I am very proud to be associated with the club and wish everyone continued success in this historic season!” Petrol Station, Post Office, Convenience Store and Off Licence Off Licence | Newspapers | Confectionery | Groceries PROUD SPONSORS OF AMMAN RFC Call 01269 826 394 [email protected] Cwmamman Rd, Glanamman, Ammanford, Dyfed, SA18 1DJ www.rugbyclubmag.com 73
