Droitwich Seniors Mini & Juniors Late last season was one of the low points in the club’s history. Our firsts were on -1 point in the league, our seconds were having difficulty putting a team out each week, our Chairman, Chairman of Mini & Juniors and Director of Rugby all said they would not stand for re-election at the AGM. A review of the managers and coaches soon showed that the U17s had been successful over many seasons. Adam Drew was approached and after some discussion he agreed to take on the job of Director of Rugby. He brought with him two coaches, Blair Hunter and Andy Maginis, the team had been to together for a number of seasons. Adams first job was to raise the moral of the players and give them an identity. This was done through structured training sessions, getting new kit for the players and Andy Maginis producing a player’s charter so that everyone knew what was expected of them. In the coaching set up they were joined by Pete Knight as player-coach and Jackson Willison. There were regularly 30+ at training on a Tuesday and Thursday. The final part was the return of ex Captain James Shewell and No 8 Phil Horton. As the season progressed there came the realisation that we had a special first team as the wins kept coming. We played Tarleton in the semi-final of the National Senior Vase competition which we won meaning that we had the opportunity to take on Farnham at
