Rugby Club Magazine recently caught up with club representative Dillan Phillips to gain an insight into their success. This Season He told us, “The players are jubilant at the moment and the supporters are behind the teams 100%. It’s a fantastic feeling among everyone associated with the club. We are more than pleased with the attitude, commitment and desire from all the players. The youth have enjoyed a great season narrowly missing and the 2nds again came second in their league but secured a fine win in the Mel Davies Cup against Caerphilly. We are very pleased and proud of the achievement the players, coaches and committee have contributed to this season.” I think the keys to our success have been hard work, commitment and 46 Issue 71 respect. I believe the club is offering a family orientated atmosphere where players’ wives and children can interact and socialise. This group of players play for the badge and their motto this year has been #matesnotmoney.” Youth “Youth rugby is very important to us; we have had some great talent that has emerged over the last few seasons now playing for our senior section. The youth development plan we have has made a huge impact and we hope it continues. We develop our youth players firstly to enjoy playing, we offer them a chance to play in their preferred position and where necessary guide them into a role where our experienced coaches feel they would be more suited. We have bonding days that allow the younger players to mix with the senior players by having teams in tug of war, touch rugby and general games etc. We also have our annual pantomime where members of all teams get involved. The older players in their last year are brought into the senior squads and developed towards senior rugby.” Community “We are most definitely an important part of the local area; we have a chess club from which the community play twice a week, we offer our facilities to
