or the past two seasons Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club has suffered the
disappointment of play-off defeat having finished as runners up in the
league. It was a difficult time for everyone at the club but they have picked
themselves up and came out fighting this time around.
And now at the end of the campaign
they can look back with pride on a record
breaking campaign which saw them
crowned Champions of Division North 1
West. This will see them competing at the
highest level in the club’s history but that
is just the start of the story.
They took the title with an unbeaten
run through the season, a perfect winning
record complemented by the fact that
Kirkby gained four try bonus points
in every match but one and this gives
the Club 129 points out of a possible
maximum of 130.
Their success is a tribute to the
never say die character, resilience,
determination and skill of the first team
squad and its Coaches. Their commitment
to training and fitness reinforced the old
‘bond’ and the ‘brotherhood’ spirit which
manifested itself on the pitch as flair,
