He recently told Rugby Club Magazine, “As a rugby player myself I have a lot of interest in the other rugby clubs within the region and I know Navan have a great setup and are enjoying a great season. I was playing for St Mary’s last season in the 2nd or back row and will turn out for newly promoted Armagh in 2017/2018. Delighted to be associated with the success of Navan RFC +353 469 0700 www.dominos.ie Everyone knows each other and most of the time it is a really happy place to be. We’re always trying to attract new faces to the club and new members will be made very welcome. Everyone here is proud of what we offer.” Ladies “We have girls teams up to U15s having started with U10s maybe three or four years ago and now have forty or fifty girls taking part. Our ladies team at senior level were challenging for honours Unfortunately, being a player means I am limited with my availability at the weekend but our local newspapers do a good job in publicising the clubs all-round success. My business, Domino’s Pizza, were supporters of the club before I arrived three years ago and it was an easy decision to continue that support. I would like to congratulate everyone at Navan Rugby Club on a great season, keep up the good work!” this year and are hoping to continue to progress particularly with the upcoming World Cup approaching which will provide an opportunity to attract more people to the game.” Challenges/Ambitions “One of the biggest challenges that we face is that we are very close to Dublin; it’s always been a big problem that we have players poached from our successful under age set up. We have player pathways in place to hopefully encourage our young talent to continue into our senior side. The club’s approach at the moment is that no matter what league we play in we want to be in the league above. We aspire to be in the top league at some stage – it’s going to be a long road but we’re hoping to consolidate in our new league and then push on again from there. We have a great set up in place with a lot of young talent coming through so it’s an exciting place to be at the moment.” John Duffy of club sponsor JJ Duffy Construction recently spoke to Rugby Club Magazine about his positive association with Navan RFC, telling us, “I have played for many Irish clubs since I started as a 12 year old. These included Clontarf, UCD and Lansdowne for a season as well as some time down in Waterford. JJ Duffy Construction is a family owned company based at The Commons, Navan, Co. Meath. I have been player and coach and sometimes player/ coach with Navan and really benefited under the tutelage of Alan Kinglsley. Alan is a very good coach and has been instrumental in the success of the seniors and U20s this season. Both my sons, Sean and Ted, now play at the club for the U7s and with the fantastic under age rugby, overseen by Eddie Lyons, continuing to develop at Navan I’m sure the club will produce many more good players. My business is a sleeve sponsor for Navan and it’s always nice to give a little back. Congratulations to everyone at the club on a great year, keep giving us supporters something to cheer about!”
