“ We are a small village club with a small pool of players to choose from so keeping everyone fit and avoiding injury will be paramount to our success in this league . A recruitment drive is on and on the back of last season ’ s promotion , we are hopeful to attract a few more players into the senior squad .
“ Youth rugby is incredibly important to the club . The youngsters are the future of our club and the game itself , and are paramount to our Club ’ s success . We are lucky enough to have a great youth section with 400 + kids enjoying the game with a proactive Committee and the benefit of having a good team running the Colts who must be mentioned .
“ We are without a doubt a community club ; we are a small village and the Club has been here since 1875 . We have very close ties with the local community . Everyone one is welcome from any age . We do encourage people to come and support the Club all year round .
“ We have a fantastic facility and installed a new bar eighteen months ago . We are also working on some new temporary buildings to house a gym for the players . We have recently been awarded a grant from the RFU for pitch improvements and we have David Powell ( Northampton Saints , England and the Lions ) busy doing the work . David started his career at Long
Buckby . Natwest club work days allow us to freshen up the club and we will be working again this June .
“ Player retention will be one of the biggest challenges that we face , especially the ones going off to University , not forgetting those that retire . We also have five clubs within a 10 mile radius who play at a higher level .
“ It is our ambition to maintain our league position and to build on what we have . We want to have three senior teams playing each week with a Colts side and eventually a ladies team . We are also looking to further improve our facilities and maintain our position in the Community .”
