HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED DURING
THE HOLIDAYS
By Staff Writers
The holidays are a stressful time for many people, and it’s easy to allow yourself to be-
come overwhelmed. Maintaining perspective and ensuring you stay focused will help
things go much more smoothly, greatly reducing any stress brought on by the holidays.
Stay Focused
Don’t allow the glamour of the holidays to distract you from what you have to do. The holi-
days are an exciting time of year, but when you’re at work, you need to make sure that your
attention is devoted solely to your work. If you allow yourself to be distracted, you won’t get
everything done that you need to, which means that you will end up taking more work home
with you. If you focus during the workday and complete your work, then you’ll have more
time to spend focusing on the holiday season after work hours.
Leave Work at Work
During the holidays, you’re faced with increased workloads, which means you also need to
increase your productivity levels during this time. However, increased productivity and crit-
ical deadlines do not mean that your workday needs to extend past the time you leave the
office. Taking your work home with you will mean that you’ll get more done, but it also means
work will be an around-the-clock commitment. This all-day workday will lead you to burn out
quickly, causing productivity levels to plummet.
Take Care of Yourself
Remember to take time off from work to take care of your well being. The holidays and work
are both overwhelming on their own, so putting the two together can easily become too much.
Taking time off is crucial to ensure your physical and mental health throughout the season.
Also, eating better and exercising will improve your mind and body, increasing overall pro-
ductivity.
Most importantly, never forget to stay in the holiday spirit. While the holidays are a stressful
time that can quickly become overwhelming, it is important to maintain perspective and re-
member what the holidays are really all about.
